As an adolescent that has found success as an athlete, often much of their self worth and identity lies in their success as a high performing athlete. When this athletic success is challenged or questioned, it can lead to struggles with anxiety and depression which negatively impacts other areas of their life. There is significant pressure and stress on athletes from their teammates, coaches, parents, and most often themselves. Learning to cope with this stress is crucial in achieving athletic goals while maintaining healthy functioning in all life areas including school, family, and community.
